Monday 1-31-11

Happy Birthday to me. Doesn't feel like it at all but that's ok. Hopefully next year will be the same and I won't even notice the big 3-0! I'll just focus on enjoying the last year of my twenties for now! ;)

This morning Lucy had PT and is now taking a nap. Today Lucy and I ran some errands to Sam's club, Giant Eagle and Target and then came home and relaxed. Joe got home at his usual time and brought me flowers. I was so surprised! He got me a dozen roses and his Mom bought me a little cake from the Macy's bakery and sent it home with Joe too. On top of that my Mom went straight from work to the Oakmont bakery and bought me a little cake and a cupcake and brought those over. I was really touched that she did that! It was a very nice birthday!

1-30-11

Today was a very busy day. First we went to breakfast at Eat N Park with Grandma and Uncle Nick to celebrate my birthday (Grandma insisted). Then we had nursery at church (it was youth Sunday which isn't a normal message so we didn't mind missing service today) then the grocery store and home for a few hours until we went out to dinner with my family to celebrate my birthday. Gigi and Pappy, Nana and Pap, Uncle Adam and Dee, Uncle Mike and Emily all came out to dinner with us at Mulligans. They had all you can eat crab legs which were AWESOME! It is definitely my favorite meal. I wish I had taken a picture of us all at dinner but I didn't. Afterwards Nana and Pap came back to our house for a little bit and I did take a picture of Nana playing with Lucy. It's really blurry because I took it on my phone, but it's Lucy taking steps from Pap to Nana and she got excited and threw herself at Nana once she got close.

Saturday 1-29-11

Today was another boring day at home. I cleaned and rearranged the living room. Joe went to the doctor in the morning because of what started as a sinus infection and progressed to a nasty ear infection. Joe wanted to go out in the afternoon so that I could pick something out for my birthday but I wasn't feeling like it and couldn't think of anything I wanted anyways. Instead we stayed in and we ordered in Chinese food for dinner. It was delicious! Lucy even surprised me, she did great, she ate a bunch of lo mein, some sweet and sour chicken (she loved the sweet and sour sauce), a little bit of dumpling and crab rangoon and some rice. She loved the fortune cookie too. I was really surprised that she ate any of it!

So I know this is completely cheating, but I didn't take a picture and I don't have an old one to share so I went to google and got a picture of some lo mein to show. lol! I promise once I get January caught up I'll do my best to remember to take a picture every day!

Friday 1-28-11

Today Lucy and I stayed home and we didn't really do much of anything. She played most of the day and I finally got my sewing machine out and started learning how to use it and make some stuff. I was pretty proud of a cute little skirt I was able to make out of an old pair of capri's I had.

I don't have a picture for today but I do have another old picture to share. My Uncles and Grandparents have "camps" (trailers with porches built around them in a private campground) near the river. My one Aunt and Uncle decided to sell theirs and my parents bought it. We are beyond excited about it because now my parents have the big, awesome porch that's between my other Uncle and Grandparents and the Aunt and Uncle (moreso the aunt) that are leaving were always the ones that made you feel uncomfortable being there if you were visiting (like us and my parents before because we didn't have a camp). So now it's really exciting that we'll be able to go up there without feeling like we're not welcome. My parents recently bought a new trailer and it's pretty official that it's theirs. So today's POTD is of Pap and Lucy walking around up there from Labor Day last year.

Thursday 1-27-11

Today was a pretty boring day. We did actually get out of the house today though. I was pretty proud of myself today, I went through the grocery ads and matched up sales with some coupons that I had. We went to Community market and Giant Eagle, came home with a ton of stuff and I spent about $75 total.

No picture today. :(

Wednesday 1-26-11

Another mixed up day. Today which is usually just knitting night we had speech therapy. Then we went to Great-Gram's for knitting. We were the only ones there because Uncle B had knee surgery so Aunt Pats wasn't there and HQ was sick so it was just Lucy, Gram and I. I didn't take a picture (boy I'm getting bad about this), but I am going to share one I have on my phone from Sunday at church. Lucy got a donut from the donut table (after the donut incident she LOVES donuts) and this is just too cute.

Tuesday 1-25-11

This week is an off week. Yesterday Joe was off and we were busy. Today, which is usually our speech therapy day, we had physical therapy instead in the afternoon. Again I didn't take a picture but since we had 2 different events yesterday I'll share one of the pictures from the pen's signing yesterday evening. This one's of Uncle Nick getting his autographs.

Monday 1-24-11

Today was a busy day. Joe was off of work today and first thing this morning we went and had professional pictures taken of Lucy because I haven't had any taken since she turned 1. Then in the evening we went with Grandma and Uncle Nick to the Pen's charity autograph thing that we did last year. It was our birthday gift to Uncle Nick.

Sunday 1-23-11

Today was the AFC championship game in the NFL playoffs. The Steelers played the Jets. Joe actually got to go to the game through a vendor from his work. Lucy and I went to Nana and Pap's house to watch the game. Here's one of Joe's pictures from at the game.

Saturday 1-22-11

Lately we've been having some boring weekends with no plans. It's actually kind of nice. I used to be 0n-the-go all the time and now I've become such a home-body. I don't really remember what we did today honestly but it couldn't have been very exciting then either. Here's a picture of Lucy just being Lucy.

1-21-11

Today was another nothing day, stayed home worked on some stuff around the house, etc. Didn't even take a picture today so I went through some old pictures and came up with this one, it's of my old truck. We sold it to Joe's uncle when we bought our van because I hadn't driven it in ages because I can't put Lucy in it so it was best to sell it instead of letting it just rot away. I still miss it though, especially since it was a stick shift.

1-20-11

Today was a somewhat busy day. I had an OB appointment in the morning, all is well with the new little one on the way. In the evening I was playing with our new TV and we realized we have the picture-in-picture option. It is so cool! I was watching a movie on DVD and switching back and forth to The Big Bang Theory and The Office.

Wednesday 1-19-11

Another boring day at home. Today we took pictures of a lot of Lucy's toys, her sippy cup, and other familiar things to her for the Speech therapist who is going to make flash cards out of them that will hopefully help Lucy with her speech.

Here's one of the pictures of one of her favorite dolls.

Tuesday 1-18-11

This evening Lucy and I went over to Gigi and Papi's house. I had leftover ham and so did Gigi so we were going to make ham and bean soup together. Gigi really did all the work, she made both hers and mine while I kept Lucy entertained. She's really awesome that way! I know it looks kind of gross, but it is DELICIOUS!

Monday 1-17-11

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day, which is also a mandatory floating holiday at Joe's work. It's the strangest policy but a day off is a day off so I guess I shouldn't complain. Lucy had her PT session in the morning. Grandma and Uncle Nick had the day off too because of it being a bank holiday so they wanted to go to the zoo. I told them they were nuts because it was freezing outside but Joe went with them. Lucy and I stayed home. I'll admit Joe's pictures were neat to see the animals in the snow but still not worth going out in the freezing for it!

1-16-11

Church then grocery store as usual. After that we met R and S for lunch. Then we went back to their house for a little while and just hung out. We came home and had dinner and I gave Lucy a donut that we bought at the store as dessert. I obviously wasn't paying attention to where I set them and left the box sit on the dining room table. Joe and I watched a movie and Lucy was playing. It was quiet and I wondered where she went and saw her sitting on the floor in the dining room and couldn't tell what she had so I got up to turn the dining room light on and she had managed to get the box of donuts and had them on the floor. If you look closely at the picture you can see that she took a bite out of every donut before she settled on the chocolate (that's mama's girl!) as her favorite. It was just too funny and we couldn't help but laughing at it instead of getting upset.

1-15-11

Today is National Strawberry Ice Cream day! At least according to the calendar hanging in our kitchen. Probably could be because it's from Turkey Hill. lol! Anyways, today was the beginning of the NFL playoffs. We went over to Nana and Pap's house to watch the game and have dinner. We watched the first part of the game with them and then they left to go to a fundraiser with friends of theirs. The Steelers didn't do well at all the first half and we just happened to get this picture of Lucy that we're calling her "half time face" where she's just depressed at the way the Steelers played.

1-14-11

Tonight I had a Celebrating Home party. It was a lot of fun and nice to see everyone. Here's a picture of Grandma and Lucy looking through the catalog.

1-13-11

Today was a boring day at home. Lucy played as usual while I ran around cleaning everything and getting ready for the celebrating home party Friday night. I forgot, again, to take a picture so I'm sharing another one from this time last year. This was after Lucy got her first hair cut. I love looking back and seeing how chubby and little she was. My baby isn't a baby anymore, she's changing into a little girl!

Wednesday 1-12-11

Joe went back to work today. I finished up some knitting I had to do and then did some cleaning. I made ham and perogies for dinner and it was a pretty boring day all in all. We haven't gone anywhere because we got a lot of snow overnight and today, 5 inches total. And I forgot to take a picture. Oops. So I'll share a picture from this day last year. It's of Lucy and Nana playing. Nana put Lucy's socks on her head and she just thought that was hysterical. She was about 8 months in this picture.

Tuesday 1-11-11

Joe stayed home from work again today because we still were feeling pretty weak from the stomach flu yesterday. We just relaxed and didn't do much of anything. Lucy was feeling pretty good by now.

Monday 1-10-11

Today was a MISERABLE day. It started last night around 10pm. I got sick. Then Lucy woke up screaming at midnight and when I went to check on her she was covered in puke too. I gave her a bath and Joe cleaned up her crib. About an hour later Joe started getting sick too. It was a horrible night of the 3 of us with the stomach flu. Thankfully Lucy never got the diarrhea part of it, but the vomitting was bad enough. We both felt so terrible for her. Finally around 7am we had all stopped throwing up so much and I went downstairs tocall the PT and cancel our session for this morning. I laid on the couch to get some rest so that Joe, Lucy and I were more comfortable without us all fighting for space in bed. I woke up and went back upstairs to check on them around 10am.
The rest of the day was spent recooping. Lucy bounced back pretty fast although it took Joe and I much longer to recover!

Sunday 1-9-11

Church as usual. Went to the grocery store and Grandma was carrying Lucy in. We have no idea what happened but she fell while holding Lucy on the way into the store. Lucy hit her head a little, she had a small bump on the back of it, and she bit her tongue and it was bleeding a bit but nothing like the beating that Grandma took trying to protect Lucy on the way down. Grandma scraped up her wrist and hit her knee pretty hard.

We went home and Lucy was back to her normal self in no time. When we went to BRU on Wednesday I bought Lucy a cheap potty chair for the heck of it. She's pretty easy to tell when she's going #2 so I figured maybe it would be a good start. Joe thought it was funny to put her on it and give her the newspaper to read.

Saturday 1-8-11

This evening we had dinner at Nana and Pap's house with Gigi, Papi and Nana's brothers and sister and their families to celebrate Uncle Rich's 50th birthday. It was a good dinner and a fun evening. We got there early to try out Lucy's new sled, snow suit and boots, but we only stayed outside for a few minutes because it was extremely cold!

Friday 1-7-11

Today we spent the whole day at home recooping from our busy day yesterday.

Thursday 1-6-11

Today we had our appointment down at Children's Hospital with the Neurologist. Here's Lucy sitting at one of the children's tables in the waiting room with her doll.
We went down early and had lunch at an Indian restaurant across the street. Then her appointment, then she got bloodwork done there as well so all in all we spent almost 4 hours at the hospital. Afterwards we stopped at Target on the way home and got stuff for dinner and bought Lucy ice cream for doing such a great job at the Dr.'s.

Wednesday 1-5-11

Today was knitting club at Gram's house. Before going there we went to Monroeville to do some shopping. I usually try and do it on knitting club days because Gram lives in Plum which is halfway between us and Monroeville so it's easier coming back to stop at her house. We went to OUAC and got Lucy some snow boots to go with her new snow suit that she got from Nana and Pap for Christmas and then we went to BRU for some sales they had going on. We pulled in the parking lot and I was surprised (but not really) to see a cart in the middle of the parking spaces, just feet from the cart-return. It amazes me how people can really be THAT lazy that they can't walk the extra 20 feet to put the cart in the cart-return and keep other people's vehicles from getting hit by it.

Tuesday 1-4-11

Today Lucy met with her speech therapist for the first time. She's a very nice lady. In the evening we went to Nana and Pap's house for dinner and to drop off some stuff and pick up some other stuff.

Monday 1-3-11

This morning Lucy had her physical therapy and we waited for a call from the doctor's office. By mid afternoon we finally got things straightened out and got Lucy an appointment for Thursday.

Sunday 1-2-11

Church as usual, grocery store, etc.

Saturday 1-1-11

Happy New Year!

Today Joe got to go to the Winter Classic hockey game at Heinz Field as a sort of "bonus" because one of the vendors they do business for got 4 tickets for any of the people who worked on a certain project at Joe's work. He was really excited about it.

While he was at the game, Lucy and I went to Nana and Pap's house to have dinner and watch it on their big TV.

Friday 12-31-10

New Year's Eve! What a strange start to the almost-new-year. I called the Ped's office this morning and got Lucy in to see her Dr. because of some concerns we've been having. She was great and is just as concerned as we are and is sending Lucy to a specialist next week. Hopefully things will get figured out right away and fixed.

Then we went and had breakfast and did some grocery shopping. We came home and took naps and Lucy took one on Joe, it was really cute.

Thursday 12-30-10

Today we had a play date with Nichole and Aurora. It was a lot of fun. We exchanged our Christmas gifts too. I forgot to take a picture there but got this crappy one later in the evening when we went with Mom and Dad to Vicki and Ed's house for dinner and a gift exchange with them. They bought Lucy a really cute Cabbage Patch doll.
